Privacy Policy
Short version: no account, no profile, no cross-site tracking, and no advertising script at all unless you accept it. The detail below is written against what the code does.
1. Who is responsible
This site is operated by HealthPulse LLC, established in California. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and EU Regulation 2016/679, HealthPulse LLC is the data controller.
Contact for anything on this page, including a request to exercise your rights: perucci6@yahoo.com. We answer data requests within one month, as Article 12(3) requires.
2. What we do not do
There is no user account on this site, so there is nothing to sign up to and nothing to leak. Specifically, we do not:
- ask for, store or verify your name, email address, phone number or date of birth;
- store your IP address in any database (it is read in memory to rate-limit form posts, then discarded);
- build a profile of you, or link what you do here to what you do anywhere else;
- sell, rent or share anything with data brokers;
- send marketing email, because we do not have an address to send it to.
The salary, tax and affordability calculators run entirely in your browser. The income you type into them is never transmitted to us and never leaves your device.
3. What we do collect
Three things, all of them either aggregate or anonymous:
| What | Why | Legal basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage counts. Which city page was viewed, which comparison was run, which calculator was used. No identifier is stored alongside them. | Tells us which cities are actually read, which is how we decide what to verify next. | Legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) — aggregate figures, no profiling. | Indefinitely, as counts |
| Price contributions. If you submit a price through /contribute: the city, the metric, the figure, the currency and any note you write. | Checked against our own data and, if it holds up, used to correct it. | Consent, Art. 6(1)(a) — you chose to type it and press send. | Until superseded |
Creator referrals. If you arrive on a link ending ?via=someone, that creator’s code and the page you landed on. | So the creator who sent you gets the credit. | Legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) — attribution, not identification. | 90 days |
Note what is absent from every row: no IP address, no user agent string, no fingerprint, no identifier that survives a change of browser.
5. Advertising
This site currently carries no advertising. No ad network script is loaded on any page. If that changes, this section and the cookie banner will change with it, and the consent version will be bumped so that everyone is asked again rather than carried over on an answer they gave to a different question.
6. Affiliate links
Some outbound links to services a person moving abroad tends to need — an eSIM, insurance, a currency transfer — are affiliate links, marked as such next to the link. Clicking one records that the click happened, which merchant it went to and which city page it came from. That record contains no identifier for you.
Affiliate relationships do not affect which cities rank where. Rankings come from the dataset and the scoring code; no merchant can buy a position, and none has ever asked.
7. Third parties who see your request
- Our hosting provider, which necessarily processes the request in order to serve the page, and keeps short-lived server logs for security and abuse handling.
- Google Fonts — self-hosted at build time via
next/font, so your browser never connects to a Google font server. - YouTube, only on city pages that embed a video, and only once you click play. Until then the embed is a static thumbnail served from this domain.
8. Where the data is held
On servers operated by our hosting provider. Where that involves a transfer outside the UK or EEA, it is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Given what is in the tables — city slugs and counts — the practical exposure of such a transfer is close to nil.
9. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and Regulation 2016/679 you have the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Write to HealthPulse LLC at the address above.
An honest note on what that means here: because nothing is stored against an identifier for you, in most cases we will have nothing to return — there is no record we can connect to a person. The exceptions are a price contribution where you typed your own name into the note, and the referral cookie on your own device, which you can delete yourself.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office; elsewhere in the EEA, the authority for your country.
10. Children
This site is not aimed at children and has nothing on it of interest to one. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
11. Changes
The date at the top is the date the wording last changed, and it is set by hand rather than by the build, so it means something. A change that widens what we collect or adds a new third party also bumps the consent version, which re-opens the banner for everyone instead of relying on an answer given to a different question.
