Where should you live?

Tell us what you earn and what you care about. We price your household in all 70 cities, apply each country’s tax, and rank them against your weights. Move a slider and the answer changes — that is the point.

Nothing matches those filters. Loosen the budget cap or add regions back.
    FAQ

    How this works

How is the match score calculated?

Each city is scored 0–100 on ten dimensions — affordability, safety, climate fit, healthcare, getting around, English, connectivity, nightlife, family friendliness and beach access. Your slider positions are the weights. The match is the weighted average, so moving a slider genuinely changes the ranking rather than reordering a fixed list.

What does the affordability score use?

If you enter an income, we apply that city’s income tax and social contributions, price your exact household at local prices, and score the share of take-home pay left over. Without an income we score cost relative to the rest of the shortlist instead.

Why does the same city rank differently for different people?

Because it should. Lisbon ranks near the top for a remote worker on a US salary and much lower for a family that needs childcare and top-tier public healthcare. There is no single correct list, which is why this is a calculator and not an article.
